Another lovely week at the Day Centre!
This week clients made bookmarks. We used glitter and shiny card and then decorated them with various items and pictures. We then made tassels from cotton or ribbon. We also played a group word game. Taking different words we asked for as many other words that rhymed with that word. This really got people thinking! We had chair based exercise classes every day, keeping everyone nicely stretched, supple and increasing strength. Other activities were dominoes, triominoes, bingo, word searches and colouring. For lunch Angela cooked a lovely corned beef hash with broccoli and carrots, with trifle for dessert!

We have had another lovely week at the centre. Its nice to see our numbers start to return to pre pandemic levels and provides a lovely atmosphere.
This week clients coloured in decorative gnome wooden garden stakes. Some clients finished their bird houses and we carried out the long task of finishing our pom pom rug. We also took part in an animal quiz and other activities included dominoes, triominoes, colouring, bingo and word searches. Chair based exercise classes were carried on on all 3 days which is really beneficial to our clients. For lunch clients had fish, chips and peas with Vienetta for dessert. After the hot weather we have cooled down somewhat, although i must admit i am glad it has.
This week we carried on making pom poms for the rug. We are getting closer to having enough. We played a game of hangman on the whiteboard with a topic of classic British comedies. This is good as i can ask questions about who starred in them and the clients memories. Clients also took part in a "what am i quiz." Other activities were colouring, triominoes, word searches, dominoes and bingo. We also had our chair based exercise classes this week. For lunch Angela cooked pork chops with new potatoes, cauliflower and runner beans with apple and sultana sponge with cream for dessert! Well its good to be back after my holidays and see everyone.
Over the last couple of weeks clients have been painting and embellishing decorative bird houses. There are some lovely designs. On Tuesday we were entertained once again by Kempston Hammers Choir. Our clients and staff love them and we are really thankful for their longstanding support of our Day Centre. This week we have started making pom poms to finish making a pom pom rug which one of our long standing clients began to make who sadly passed away recently. We thought it would be nice to finish what she started. Other activities have been colouring, triominoes, bingo, a quiz and a word game where we tried to name has many words from the letters in Harvest Time. We managed 136. Ann took her chair based exercise class on Wednesday. Angela cooked sausage and mash with carrots and cabbage for lunch and chocolate ad cheery sponge with ice cream for dessert. |
