This week we looked at things from the past. We had various items to show clients going back to the Edwardian times including a couple of mystery objects. In the photo with 2 items the metal item was filled with fuel and lit and was used as a hand warmer. Not very safe if you ask me! The other glass item was filled with fluid and administered up the nose to clear congestion!
There were many other items which clients enjoyed talking about including some old Royal photographs and advertising postcards. Some of them brought a few laughs. On Thursday Terry came and played songs on his ukulele which everyone enjoyed. Many thanks to Terry for giving up his time. Other activities included, triominoes, dominoes and bingo with various word games. Angela cooked corned beef hash with cauliflower and carrots for lunch with meringues, cream and fruit cocktail for dessert.

With Chinese New Year here, clients had a themed week with everything relating to the country.
Clients found out what animal they were from the Chinese calendar and we also took part in a quiz with all questions relating to the country. We all took part in a white board game finding as many things we could think of relating to the country. Clients also coloured in and designed little Chinese coats. We didn't manage Tai Chi but Ann and Gill took chair based exercise classes on Wednesday and Thursday respectively. Angela cooked sweet and sour chicken with egg fried rice and prawn crackers for lunch and finished off with apple and berry strudel and custard for dessert! In the afternoon we all took part in a music quiz where we can all have a sing along and some even got up and had a dance. We had a varied week at the centre.
Some clients enjoy colouring and they find it very therapeutic. One of our clients Joyce has made more than 80 pom poms to make a rug and some of the other ladies are joining in to help. It's an activity which you can pick up, enjoy and have a chat. Clients also made cross stitched wooden key rings and also coloured key ring owls. Other games included triominoes, dominoes, playing cards and word searches. Ann and Gill took chair based exercise classes on Wednesday and Thursday respectively. Angela cooked gammon, egg, chips and peas, always a favourite for lunch. And to top it off a lovely pear sponge and custard for dessert! It was great to see our clients back after the Christmas break. Its lovely to hear about everyone's stories over the festive period and what a nice time they had.
Because everyone was keen to have a chat and catch up we had a games week where people could play various games, scrabble, triominoes, dominoes and bingo etc. We also played a word game on the whiteboard and named has many Christian names beginning with B, E, D, F, O, R. Wednesday group named 151 which was impressive. Ann and Gill took chair based exercises on Wednesday and Thursday respectively. One of our clients Hazel brought some lovely knitted characters she had made and also a letter schoolchildren were given celebrating victory in the 2nd world war which was really interesting. For lunch Angela made cottage pie with peas and carrots and lemon meringue pie for dessert. |
