This week we have been growing cress in pots. We drew faces on the pots, filled them with damp tissue paper, cotton wool and cress. When the cress grows it will look like hair.
We have also been looking back at old newspaper front page headlines and discussing any memories clients had. In addition we gave out a selection of old advertising postcards and photos of famous people to see who could recognise them. Other activities were bingo, triominoes, colouring, sudoku, dominoes, word searches and a quiz. Chair based exercise classes continue with real benefit to our clients. For lunch Angela cooked sausages and mash with green beans, broccoli and onion gravy with trifle for dessert. This week we celebrated Russell's birthday and all shared a cake baked by Angela!

I don't know about you but I'm fed up with this wet and windy weather. Lets hope for a turnaround in the next few weeks!
This week was games week. We had various games that we played including, connect 4, backgammon, draughts, cards, scrabble, dominoes, triominoes and bingo. Other activities were colouring, spot the difference, word searches, a quiz and word games. We also held group discussions talking about our favourite things, including food, sweets etc. We had our chair based exercise class on Thursday. Brenda cooked home made beef pie with mashed potatoes, carrots and peas and apple strudel with cream or ice cream for dessert! Its been Valentines week at the centre. Clients have been making carnations from tissue paper in different colours. Tissues are folded, then tied with wire in the centre and all layers separated and shaped. They are then attached to a skewer which is wrapped in green garden tape. I think they look fantastic.
Other activities included, colouring, word games, spot the difference, word searches, draughts, dominoes triominoes and bingo. We continued with our chair based exercise classes which is showing real benefits with their movement and strength. We are all looking forward to next Tuesday when Kempston Hammers Choir will be entertaining us. What a wet, cold time we are having at the moment. Lets hope some warmer weather is on the horizon.
Last week Brenda helped our clients make birthday cards. There were various designs and the clients always enjoy the process. This week we held a music quiz. We play 20 songs and get a point for naming the song and 2 points for the artist. we always have a good time and love a singalong and some even get up for a dance. Many thanks to the Wells Hollow Band who entertained us on Wednesday afternoon. They play traditional folk music and we all enjoy listening to them play. Other activities included, colouring, word searches, spot the difference, triominoes, dominoes and bingo. We had our chair based exercise class on all 3 days this week. For lunch Brenda cooked a lovely beef stew and mashed potato, with banoffee cheesecake with cream and sliced bananas. We ended our bring and buy sale this week.
