It was a bird themed week at the centre. We have lovely grounds at the old school and clients love to make bird feeders.
We make two types, the first is threading multigrain hoops on string. The second is smothering peanut butter on pine cones and then dipping in bird seed. We then hang them out on the trees and we can see through the windows when birds arrive, although the squirrels get their fare share. We also had a bird quiz and word search, then as a group tried to name as many birds as we could. We reached 104 which was a great effort. Ann took her chair based exercise class on Wednesday. We continue to see the benefit of our clients taking the classes. Brenda cooked a lovely Chicken pie with mashed potato, broccoli, onion gravy and a white sauce for lunch.

Another busy few days at the day centre.
We had a valentine's themed week with word searches a quiz and games related to the day. Our word game consisted of making as many words from "love hearts," beginning with each letter of those words. This really gets everyone thinking and we reached 141. Clients made some lovely carnations from tissue paper. They look really effective and can be trimmed with different colours. Ann back from her holidays took the chair based exercise class on Wednesday. Other activities included colouring, dominoes, triominoes and bingo. For lunch clients either had fish or pasty and chips with peas, with berry strudel and cream for dessert. We had a fun filled week at the centre. It's great to see our numbers increasing and bringing new clients to the group. Everyone loves a good chat while enjoying their tea and toast when they first arrive.
This week clients designed their own ceramic objects and also coloured in sun catchers. Other activities included triominoes, dominoes, word searches and a quiz. On Wednesday afternoon Kempston Hammers Choir entertained us. It was great to see our clients singing and dancing and thoroughly enjoying themselves. The choir are a fantastic supporter of our centre and we can't thank them enough. Gill took her chair based exercise class on Thursday. We can really see an improvement with our clients. For lunch Angela cooked sausage and mash with cabbage and jam sponge and custard for dessert. It was a busy week at the centre and numbers are starting to rise which is good news.
This week clients made Birthday cards. We have an array of different options and designs and clients are always thrilled with the outcome. Some of our ladies made decorative purses from card kits. On Tuesday afternoon we had a three piece music group who played some wonderful traditional Irish, Scottish and other tunes. We are so grateful to them for giving up their time to play for us. Other activities included word searches a quiz, bingo, triominoes and dominoes. Many thanks to Gill for providing her chair based exercise class on Thursday. Angela cooked a turkey roast with roast potatoes, carrots, broccoli, and Yorkshire puddings. For dessert we had a lovely trifle! |
